My breath came in short ragged gasps.
I ran non stop, constantly stealing glances over my shoulders. There was no one in sight, but this fear in me wouldn't cease.
I was worried they'd appear from nowhere and take me back to be killed.
I didn't want to die. Never!!
Then I paused. To catch my breath. For minutes long, I had forged on, not stopping for a second.
It felt safe now, at least, a bit. I sat under a tree, my back against it.
