I froze.

This was starting to interest me. At the same time, it terrified me.

Why had my father reacted that way after hearing of the woman who appeared to me?

“Is anything wrong, dad?” I asked, my jaws dropping in shock.

He remained quiet for a while, almost as if he wasn't with us. He felt so near, yet so far away.

“Dad!!” Lyra called in a loud voice, and only then did he jerk back to reality.
