Selene’s POV
I let out a long breath, my chest finally loosening.
“You should have called out to me,” I murmured, stepping closer to the bed and crouching to pick up the shards scattered across the floor.
Grandma must have reached for the cup from her bed, and it slipped right out of her hand.
After dropping the pieces into the bin, I came back and sat beside her, the mattress dipping slightly under my weight.
“How are you feeling, Grandma?”
“The hand still hurts a bit,” she admitted, lifting it gingerly. “But the doctor says I’ll be fine once I finish my medication.” Her smile was soft, reassuring.
