My hour of transformation was about to begin and I was already arriving in the woods too late to get away from my home. The last time I was around, I almost tore everything to pieces. It wasn't long ago that I became alpha, and that's why the transformation process on full moon nights was still difficult for me. A year ago I was a beta, but I ended up becoming alpha. It was a sudden change and I did not expect it at the time, so the transformations on these nights were a terrible pain, because each of my bones broke inexplicably and made me scream worse than a beta. But not everything was so bad, being alpha also had its advantages, because the strength I possessed inside me was much greater and surprising.
When I arrived at the forest, I could feel that uncomfortable tingle in the body that the full moon brought with it for wolves. I knew I could meet some other wolf tonight, for I wasn't the only werewolf going out to fulfill his transformation in the forest. I moved as far away from the streets as I could, went deeper into the forest, and was willing to let the transformation come, as the tingling was already becoming more and more difficult to control.
I took off my shirt so as not to tear it, but when I was about to take off my pants, I heard a desperate scream that left me thinking. I looked everywhere, looking for where that sound was coming from, until I looked to my right when the scream was heard again. It was the cry of a woman asking for help. The girl was desperate, she could feel it because she could even hear her uncontrolled heartbeat.
I didn't hesitate and ran to find the girl. I knew that a transformed werewolf was behind her and that the girl was in danger when I heard a howl. I noticed movements and sounds of hurried footsteps approaching me. The girl intended to run past me, but I stopped her with my hands in my arms to reassure her.
The girl's terrified eyes were filled with tears, but her strange green eyes were the ones that left me trapped in her for a moment. I quickly felt a strong tingle all over my body, but it was a different tingling than transformation. Also, I felt that this new tingle was stronger than that of my transformation; it was even able to make me stop feeling my crazed desire to convert under the moon. I quickly ran through her with my eyes, feeling her trembling, listening to her loud heartbeat, and noticing the black color of her hair. Something in me stirred, and I didn't understand why. Something in me wanted to protect that girl at all costs from the dangers of the forest and life. Something in me told me I had to take care of her forever.
Until I knew what it was.
I remembered the prophecy that a witch once told me: "On a full moon night, you will come across a girl with green eyes and black hair. You will have a protective instinct with her that you will never feel for anyone, not even someone in your pack. Her name will begin with E. She will be your Luna. You'll know for sure when you find her."
My Luna.
I knew immediately.
Just by looking into her eyes, I could feel it.
The witch had not lied to me with my prophecy.
"Are you in danger?" I asked.
She almost couldn't speak of the fear, but uttered a word with a trembling and broken voice.
"Help me," he pleaded.
I looked at his arm after noticing the smell of blood. The girl was bleeding; she had a werewolf's bite. I knew, then, that the wolf was not looking for her to kill her, but was trying to enlarge his pack and now wanted to take her with him.
But she was my Luna now. I knew it. She wasn't going to let someone take her. I had to protect her.
"You're hurt. You have to run!” I motioned, holding her by the hand so we could start running together. The girl followed me quickly, but I could feel how her legs wavered from the fear that invaded her. I felt sadness for her, worry. It was my instinct to react because she was my Luna.
I couldn't believe it.
My Luna had finally come into my life.
"I can't run anymore," she said desperately, completely agitated and tired.
I did not hesitate to take her in my arms and carry her to my house. The werewolf could not enter there, my home, because the natural law of werewolves forbids it to enter the house of the alpha without permission. There she would be safe.
The only bad thing and what I was very worried about, is that I could hurt him. I was in my transformation process. I would end up converting at any moment, so I had to hurry to drop her off at home.
I saw the light on in the living room of my home a few meters from me. I went inside and left the beautiful girl standing on the ground, but she clung to me in fear, seeking my protection.
"Don't let go of me," he pleaded.
"I know you're terrified right now, but I have to leave right now. You can stay here with my sister," I assured her, feeling how my bones wanted to break to transform me. I was fighting transformation, and that was forbidden in my world. Alexa! I yelled at my human sister, to come down the stairs and help me with my Luna.
"No, don't leave me here!”
My sister came down worried, almost running, and was surprised when she found me with the girl. His eyes asked me what was wrong, who that girl was, but it was not time to explain.
"Alexa, help the girl, she's hurt. They've bitten her," I explained.
I had to make the girl let go so I could leave, as my situation was getting tenser and tenser. The pain of the transformation became acute and if I didn't leave right now, I would end up hurting the girl and my sister.
I almost ran to the door, but was stopped by the sound of something falling to the ground. When I turned around, I found the woman fainted.
