The atmosphere inside the car thickened right after Leon spoke his last sentence. Giselle took a short breath, trying to steady herself. She turned away from Leon, looking out the window to avoid his eyes.
“Leon, I’m serious about Billy,” she whispered, almost inaudible. “He’s been there for me. For Gesha.”
Leon closed his eyes. “Stop saying his name.”
“Why? Because you can’t accept that I’m happy without you?” Giselle shot back quickly.
Leon didn’t answer.
And that only made Giselle even more frustrated.
She spun her body around, reaching for the car door. “I’m going home. This conversation is over.”
But before her hand could touch the door...
