“Thank you for letting me stay in your home.” 

After three days in the hospital, the doctor declared her ready to leave. Although, he had the attending nurse give us some drugs to supplement the listed food she was advised to eat till day of her delivery. 

Her smile was full of gratitude and it was, shockingly, genuine. 

Still, I didn’t let myself fall for it. In fact, we didn’t have any relationship anymore. “You’re just here until you give birth. This isn’t permanent.” My tone was brisk. 

“I know. But still, I have to be thankful.” The smile remained.
