“I never said I was disappointed in you, Dahlia.” His hand ran up and down the small of my back in slow, comforting motion.

“You said it. When I asked if you were disappointed. You said yes.” I argued amidst sobbing on his body. 

He gently unwound me from his embrace to look into my face. He supported my chin with his index so I could meet his eyes. “I’m sorry if my response made you feel that way. Was that why you went into that bar to get drunk? In fact, why would you lie about going to the supermarket?”
