“WHAT HAPPENED TO you, Ian?”

Ian suddenly sat on the sofa next to her friend Arianne. She texted her and said she was lying here in the Library here in Saint Vincent so she went to her immediately. She doesn't have a class so here she is and here she is now.

She didn’t answer Arianne’s question and removed the cap she was wearing. It is forbidden to wear a cap here inside the Library for reasons she does not know.

She knew why that was immediately what this friend of her had asked her. She really looked like a mess. Seems like she hadn’t slept for ten years with so much black around her eyes. It's good that her eyes aren't too red from crying all night last night. It seems like only last night it totally sank into his brain without Aiden and Ian.

Who could blame for crying like that? It's only been a day since Aiden broke up with her. The healing process is not swimming and can only be done overnight. The pain in his heart doesn't go away right away. But she has to accept the fact that Aiden doesn't love her anymore. And that's the hardest part.

He still couldn’t accept until now that Aiden and I no longer had whatever they had. It's hard to imagine that the man who had always been by her side had disappeared in the blink of an eye.

It is true the saying that there is nothing permanent in the world other than change. Life indeed for her was rapidly changing.

And the other thing that bothered her last night was the man who bumped into her and gave her a handkerchief. He didn't know why his face was squeezing his mind last night when in fact Aiden should be the only thing on his mind.

“Earth to Ian! You have someone with you named Arianne. Hello? I have a question. ”

"We, Aiden and I, broke up." he said to Arianne, at the same time re -wrapping the longing in her heart, longing for the love lost, for the man lost in her life.

“I’m sorry, Ian. Since when?"

"Yesterday."

"What happened?"

He recounted from the beginning what had happened. From what he saw and heard to the words Aiden left out. Sometimes he is even stopped from telling stories because of Arianne's side comments. She also told about the man who collided and helped her. Of course, she didn’t mention her reactions to the man she bumped into. It's hard and maybe Arianne's issue will make that happen.

“That bastard! That man is really fascinating to me! How dare him hurt you? How dare that freaking son of a— “

Arianne immediately covered her mouth and she even noticed the slight redness on her cheek. Despite the weight he felt he felt somehow relieved because of this friend of his. With the knowledge that Arianne supported and was willing to defend him, it was a great help to him.

Arianne was not her classmate. It's in Journalism. But he has been her friend since they were little. He considers her his best friend and it's the same for him. When someone was fighting over it then without hesitation he defended it and it was the same with him. She became the sister she never had.

“Oh no! My head really heats up because of that Aiden! When I saw him, oh! Even his eyes are scarred! ”

He smiled at it and tapped it lightly on the arm. “You're over, Best. Even eyes, with warts? Poor Aiden. ”

He raised an eyebrow at her and frowned slightly. “So? No mercy, okay? If I were you, you 'd be in Mister Kill-Me-With-Your-Smile . My God! Her sweet-sweet! Oops! He deserves to be a hero for Ash's novel. ”

The Ash it refers to is Ashleigh who is another friend of theirs. Ashleigh is two years younger than him. They became close with the woman because she was with Arianne at her Club. Ashleigh was a sweet girl so they immediately became close friends. Ash is also a journalism student but he sidelined as a novel writer in a publishing house here in the Philippines.

“Heh! Shut up, Arianne! ”

"Why? Based on your stories, Mister Kill-Me-With-Your-Smile is hero material . Alas Ian, only in Ash-looks-cash novels do such things exist so you're in luck! ”

"I do not care about him."

“So what? Who do you care? To Aiden who broke your heart? ”

The wind blew him away and he looked at this friend of his. "It's because I can't get rid of my feelings for him just like that."

"Heh!" he said but also thought about what he said. Because the word he left out was different, he wanted to convey the same message to her as Mister Kill-Me-With-Your-Smile — based on Arianne — told him yesterday.
