The following days, she did what she asked from him, cooking in the kitchen, cleaning her room, visiting the garden, watering the plants, and reading him books. She would be chasing butterflies and picking flowers to put in the empty vases of his castle. She never asked him to go outside. She didn't even walk near the gate.
She even requested the charwoman to have a grand clean up in the castle. She changed the curtains in the night. She told Gael to change carpets, clean the chandeliers, and the outside walls of the castle. In short, she made a brand new castle that won't seem to be creepy at all.
With her bare hands, she held two handles of the grand breech wood door towards the biggest balcony located in front of the castle. She pulled the handles to feel the cold breeze of the air on her skin. She walked towards the railings to see the whole Pyrenees' twinkling lights and clear mountains. Standing in this place, under the bright moon, she spread her arms to feel the blow of the wind and smell it. It is so good to see and so pleasing to feel.
I've never felt this peaceful before, so good to embrace.
Gael was standing there watching how excited his milady was to be in this place like she never felt it before. He doesn't know what she is thinking but his King told him to do what she wants. And this is it, she made him take care of the flowers inside the castle he had never done in his life. She made him smell a flower-like castle. She made him enjoy the sparkles of the chandlers. She made him maintain the freshness of the flowers inside the castle. This is a whole new experience.
His eyes landed on the bright moon in the sky and then to the woman who was wearing a white dress, golden hair dancing in the air...
She is indeed Leonardo's Princess.
BEFORE the morning comes in which everyone must be in their peaceful sleep, the King's door opens revealing his sneaking wife who was holding a book and a torch.
"Are you still awake, marido?" She sneakily whispered, checking her back if someone was behind her. She stepped one more in the room, closed it, and sighed in relief.
She stood straight and looked somewhere in the darkness.
"Marido?"
It took thirty seconds before she heard him humming and she sighed again.
"Good thing you’re awake." She started walking to his breech wood chair and putting down the torch.
"Are you not sleepy? I want to share with you the content of this book. It's so interesting!" She hugged the book and giggled.
"The Renaissance artists' work of art is still famous until now. They have carved, sculpted, and painted many remarkable artworks from their time that remain in history. This is so exciting." While dreaming about how painters made unique art forms, she started nibbling the book and telling him what she understood in the history of Renaissance art.
He didn't have time to say anything and just listened to her. He remained sitting on his bed, leaning on the headboard. Three hours later, she closed the book she borrowed from him and spotted him again, making him sit straight.
"Are you asleep?"
So she has now realized that if it wasn't him, her listener must be sleeping by now.
"No."
He saw her wide smile making him grimace. Isn't she sleepy at all? And it is nearly breaking dawn for damn's sake.
"Thank you for listening, marido. I had fun talking to you."
His brows furrowed. Talk? He didn't even move his lips a bit.
"My father would always scold me for being a sleepyhead every morning. I would also sleep in my classes because I stay up the whole night before dawn. I prefer reading at night because it is quiet and no one bothers me." She stood up to put the book back on his bookshelf. She then again spotted him in the darkness after getting the torch.
"So you don't need to worry about me being active all night." Her eyes smiled.
"So... can you tell Gael not to wake me up until I woke up myself?" She was playing with the tip of her curly hair feeling embarrassed.
"I will come back to you at night again so I can tell you more." She cheered herself, looked somewhere in the darkness, and smiled.
"Thank you, marido. Good morning." She started walking to the door, opened it, and left him stunned.
She was so happy just by telling him the history of the Renaissance artists? And she didn't even feel sleepy by telling him about it from midnight until dawn? And she will come back to him to tell him more?
"Nevarro."
Upon uttering his valet's name, he popped out from nowhere, head bowed.
"Buy more historical books. As many as there are."
"Si, mi Rey." [Yes, my King] He answered before disappearing.
"Savage."
Upon calling his mistress' valet's name, he popped out, bowing his head.
"Don't disturb her sleep if you want limbs."
"Si, mi Rey" He then disappeared.
"Alajandra."
A female valet came out from the window and bowed down her head.
"Si, su Altezza." [Yes, your highness]
"Light dresses for my Hermosa."
"Si. Mi Rey."
IT PASSED lunch before Luna woke up from sleep. She stared at the Lava lights above her and thought about how she could sleep without a dream? It was the first time she wasn't dreaming when asleep. It was peaceful and light.
"Good afternoon, milady."
Her eyes landed on Gael who was bowing his head with a cart, a kittle of fresh milk and glass on it.
"Good afternoon." She got up stretching her arms as Gael put milk on the glass.
"It is 1:28 PM, milady. July 3." He handed her the milk as she looked at it, comprehending what he just said and looked above after realizing.
"Yes. It's been a month of good times." She then looked at her valet's eyes.
"I had a good time in the castle." She smiled, pure and genuine, before drinking the milk.
Gael, on the other hand, watched how his milady smiled at him like that. It wasn't expected from his milady and he wasn't dreaming at all. She said she had a good time in the castle!
A small chuckle escaped from his mouth making Luna confusedly look at him. He formed a gentle smile not leaving any evidence of the surprise he had just let go.
"It's new in my ears to hear from milady that she's having a good time in the castle."
"I was really having a good time. I find this place peaceful."
Again, his eyes stared right at her innocent smile. He's done. He is done doubting those smiles. She was really pure, so pure for him to wish that she shouldn't be here in the first place. She is ruining her future in these good times in this castle. She shouldn't suffer the same fate as his previous miladies. She is pure and innocent. She shouldn't be here. She should be living outside this castle for her own good.
"Gael?"
He was awakened by his milady's call.
"You seem to be thinking deep." She stood up to go to the bathroom.
"Have you changed the flowers?" She asked midways.
"Si, mi reina." [Yes, my Queen]
"Thank you." she walked to the bathroom as he went out to give her time. He stood outside thinking about what he was thinking a while ago.
What could be the best way to get her out?
"I am watching you, Savage."
He stilled as he turned his head to his left. He was there standing in the hall, his eyes were sparkling turquoise, dark gazed, brows furrowed, and greeted teeth. He wasn't afraid of him but he can feel fear when his King is fuming mad at him. He could feel his fingers trembling and he couldn't move his lips. This is unusual for his King to watch over his job. He disobeyed him many times. He fucked his mistresses over again. But this is...
"This time, it is not just limbs you will lose."
He felt weak as soon as he couldn't feel the presence of his King anymore. Wide eyes. Jaw drop. What does that mean? He never watched him doing his job. He let him do what he wanted from his previous mistresses. And now, he will take his life... for... for his milady? Is he... Is he into her?
No, there couldn't be a way his King felt something towards his milady. The curse... the curse is working for him. He couldn't just feel emotion. He could not be this patient.
"Gael?"
"Mr. Linneus Gael Villarruel Savage!"
"Y-Yes, milady?" He stood straight as he turned to Luna who just came out from her room wearing a round sunburst neckline, boucle knit, peasant sleeve, lemon-blouse inserted in her black tea-length skirt. Her golden hair was still wet and she's wearing a confused look.
"Thank the King for the new dresses. This feels good in the winter." She made a small smile before going back to her room to continue drying her hair with a blower.
She was facing the closed glass window enjoying the Alps around the castle. Pyrenees is a good place for adventure and skiing, no wonder it is one of the best places to visit in Spain. But along with its good image for tourists, it is at the same time, dangerous, where you could only rely on luck to go back alive.
After drying her hair, she opened the window to check the flowers in the garden. Her eyes instantly sparked as she saw them growing and blooming!
"Milady, your meal is ready."
"Thank you." She closed the window and sat on the Plume Blanche sofa.
"Oh? There is a veggie!" She beamed as she saw a salad in her meal, hands clapping.
"Thank you." She uttered before starting to eat. Gael then tidied her room like usual. Fixing her bed, cleaning her bathroom, getting her used garments out of her room, are just a piece of work for Gael.
"How's the King doing? Did he cut a limb again?" She joked after drinking water.
"Last time I knew, he cut off your left arm."
She was referring to the time when Gael forgot to change the flowers and the King punished him. She didn't even get mad at him that time but the King is madder than her. It was a very simple mistake and then at night, when she was supposed to sneak out from her room to go to the King's, she coincidentally met Gael midways, his right hand holding his left arm.
She was shocked at first and then laughed to his face because of his unexplainable look. And then she was stunned when she saw the growing of his arms and his cut arms turning into ash. She even said it was cool.
"He split me in half for making you laugh that time, milady. Double kill." Gael responded while fixing her plates and putting it back to the cart.
"How did you manage to walk?" She gulped, imagining how he turned back to one piece after splitting into half.
"I waited for about 2 minutes and my dick and balls are back."
She chuckled, shaking her head because of how silly he talks just like Stella. She got silenced with the thought of Stella, her best friend. She hadn't called her since the day she was in the castle. Her phone was confiscated by her mother before going to the Pyrenees. She wonders what she might be doing?
"Someone's coming..." Gael suddenly announced looking at her.
"She is a woman in her mid20s. She was...
visiting a friend?"
She stood up realizing who he might be talking about. Stella! It's Stella.
Excited yet worried, she hurriedly went out her room while Gael was holding a torch for her and pulling the cart. She went downstairs directly to the main door. Half running, she saw a woman in a red fluffy coat outside the gate.
"Lunie!"
She started running to hug her through the grills. It's really Stella. She missed her so bad.
"How are you, Lunie? I was so worried! I couldn't reach you so I went there."
She told Stella she's going to the Pyrenees and it's a miracle that she found it. She held Stella's hand, her eyes showing worry.
"I am doing fine here, Stella. Don't worry about me."
Stella should not be here. She can see those men in their timber houses, watching them. It's dangerous for her to be here. Stella should go.
"How long would you stay here?" Stella whined observing the castle.
"It's creepy here, especially those men who had balls to threaten me that you're dead." She looked at Luna's eyes.
"Tell me, are they treating you right? Are you safe? Wait…" She touched her knitted shirt.
"What the hell, Lunie? This is a designer's made knitted blouse!" She then cupped her right cheek.
"Your skin is so healthy and soft." She then pressed her hand to Luna's shoulder.
"You have been eating meat? You seem to be eating fine." She looked back at her eyes. "What work do you usually do? Are they treating you well? Aren't they bullying you?" She caressed her cheek.
"I heard that the debtor is wicked and ugly for fuck's sake, Lunie! Come back to me, I'll look for a good job for you. Pass this job to your sister!"
Luna shook her head.
"I will be okay here, Stella. They are treating me well." She smiled. "You need to go back."
That moment, Stella grunted.
"Are you hiding something from me, Lunie? Who's that handsome man?" Stella pointed something on her back so she turned her head and saw Gael standing a bit away from them.
"Is he somewhat of a fiancé?" Stella asked again.
"Did he kidnap you? Did they threaten you?" Now she's shaking her.
Luna sighed.
Stella and her unthinkable imagination.
"He is a perfect Adonis, Lunie! His body is fine and I want to touch those biceps behind his coat... I wonder how many abs - Oh Oh, I can see big bird and its two perfect round eggs-
"Stella." She warned her from her wicked eyes again.
Stella turned back to her smiling face.
"I'm sorry, Lunie. But who is he?"
She looked at Gael and then to Stella.
"He is a butler." She stated and saw how Stella was overwhelmed with surprise.
"Can you tell him to fuck me?"
"Stella." She warned again because she knows Gael is listening to them. She held her hand tight.
"Now that you know I'm fine, you should go."
"How long will you stay here?" Stella whined after a bit of silence.
She sighed and looked at her eyes.
"I will be here for a year or more. Don't visit me. I will call you as soon as I am back."
Stella silently watched her eyes tearing up. She knows Luna is fine but she cannot just afford not to be by her side always. If she can only provide what she needs, she will give it. If only she could give her what she wants then she will do her best, but for the time being, they will be apart for some reasons. Maybe it's time... to part ways with her. She held her two hands and looked straight at her pupils.
"Please come back. I will wait for you, a year or more."
Luna nodded as they hugged through the grills one last time. She watched Stella walking away and only felt relieved when she saw her driving her car.
She started walking back to the castle, Gael's at her back. She wanted to make sure Stella would be safe so she stopped as soon as they entered the dark castle and looked at her valet.
"Will Stella be okay?" She bawled, wanting a positive answer from him. But then she saw a wide grin on her valet's lips making her more worried.
"Can I fuck her, milady? My big bird and its perfectly round eggs are ready." He started chuckling and it turned into a laugh that he had been stopping while eavesdropping the two.
He did not expect his milady's friend to be so good in vision that she visualized it without even taking a look.
"Now I know why it doesn't bother you when I become cocky, milady. Your friend is worse than the fuck out of me."
He was still laughing and she watched him. It was the first time her valet laughed like this. This is a good scene. It's a good thing that she can make him laugh. It took seconds for him to stop and bowed his head.
"Please forgive your handsome valet with a big bird, milady." Now he is formal but almost cocky.
"I can assure you that your friend will be fine." He announced, making her relieved.
I still want to fuck her, milady and see what she's made of.
Luna thanked him before walking towards the door to the garden with Gael holding a torch to guide her. As soon as flowers appeared in her vision, she half-ran to smell them.
"This smells good, Gael!" She picked one flower and smelled it again. And then she walked to another kind of flower to pick one and smell it again.
"Hmm. This should be watered right away-"
She was still and shocked as she turned to see her valet.
He was holding his right toes that are slowly turning into ash and his toes growing back.
"I laughed too loud, milady. That's why." He explained shrugging, slightly moving up his shoulders.
She chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief.
"The King simply hates you, Gael." She started smelling back the flowers. She stopped as soon as she remembered that they are in the left wing of the castle's garden and the King's room was above them. She searched her eyes to his closed windows and curtains. And then she saw a small balcony, the door closed, and she only thought of one of William Shakespeare's famous plays.
"Here I thought I am Romeo and you are Juliet with closed doors." She spoke looking up to his right window.
"But it is better that you keep it closed." She smiled.
"So no one will have a bitter ending." She closed her eyes and smelled the flower in her hand.
"We are another Romeo and Juliet."
