Chapter 6 Read

It passed 3 PM but Gael's milady was still sleeping under her manta, sending down shivers into his spine. Should he wake her up? Or she's playing asleep? Is she okay?

Standing in the same position, two hours passed and he is getting worried that it is still the same, his milady isn't moving!

"Milady" He walked towards her to check if everything was fine.

"Don't come closer."

He stiffened. His milady's voice was a warning. Was she still mad about yesterday? Fuck, this is trouble.

"Milady, eat a meal at least. It's 5 PM. I'm worried." He was begging. He wasn't afraid what might his King do to him but he is afraid of his milady's health. His milady was always enthusiastic and kind, he cannot afford to see her like this. He wasn't used to it.

"Milady." His chest felt heavy and he doesn't like this feeling. It is his responsibility to take care of her and make her feel better but what could he do? What should he do to make her feel better?

"Are you still mad, milady? What would I do to make you feel better?"

For the first time in his life, he was cooing at someone and he was begging. And he was even asking for something because he doesn't know what to do. What is this feeling? Did he get attached to his responsibility? Was this the blood of Savage his descendant is saying? The sense of responsibility?

"Leave me alone."

He stiffened in his position. It was like he carried the whole world after hearing his milady sending him away. He felt cold all over and he couldn't move. He couldn't blink.

"M-Milady..." His voice was cracked. He felt sad. Really sad.

Hearing no words from his milady, shoulder down, he pulled the cart of food and went out of her room. He watched his covered milady disappearing in his eyes as he closed the door.

Now he thought of it, his milady was mad because of last night's visitation of one of the King's concubines. Only he could think of was to make his milady feel better so he made his way to his King's room.

"My King" He spoke but was cut by direct words.

"Let her be."

"What?" He was shocked by his simple demand.

He will just fucking watch his milady acting like that? No! He can't take it!

"I cannot watch her feeling sad, my King."

Without a doubt, his voice went cold to his King, his eyes showing anger.

"She is mad at you, my King. You need to do something because it is all because of Lady Da Rosa!"

It was an unexpected demand. He exclaimed to his own King because of his milady! He disregarded his position just because he can't watch his milady being sad and he knows what he is doing.

There was a deafening silence as Gael waited for him to respond. His hand formed into fist and his teeth gritted.

"Leave, Savage."

"Leave before I take your life."

He was stunned by his King's taut command. It is obvious in the sound of his voice that he was angry, extremely angry. Because of what he did, he is sure that his King will kill him or chop off his limbs into pieces, but no, not this time. He is threatening him to walk away!

He loosened his hands from his tight grip and sighed. This is his first time doing this and he had never done this to his King, either. This is what he has become after serving the new milady. He became irrational. He gets irritated just by seeing his milady so down in the dumps

His King is fuming mad so he really needs to do as he says. He bowed his head before leaving his King's room.

Deep in the darkness, his eyes sharpened as soon as the door closed. This is unlikely to be the Savage he knows; this is his true form as the protector of the King of Demon's human bait. It is, at least, an expectation from the Savage family. They are almost as powerful as their King.

"Nevarro."

"Si, Mi Rey." Thiago spoke after appearing at his back.

"Turn off all the lights."

"Si. Mi Rey."

"Watch that Savage." He added.

"Si. Mi Rey.” Thiago approved.

Thiago disappeared as he felt the darkness filling the whole castle. No torch. No chandler lights. He stood up to grab his knee-length black coat and walked towards his door. He walked to the hall into the right wing of the castle. He stopped in front of his wife's door and knocked three times. After a minute of no response, he held the doorknob, clicked it and pushed it opening her room. He walked to her bed and stopped beside her bed's headboard.

There was a calm silence until...

"Why are you here?" She spoke under her canopy. There was a clear crack in her voice that could guarantee that she had been crying.

"Are you done with your concubine?"

"Are you done fucking her?"

He didn't respond, making her pissed under her thick and two-layered manta.

"Did you enjoy it? Was fucking her, worth it?"

"Cheater!"

The smile that he had been stopping just appeared in his lips in no time. It was an ear to ear smile, clearly enjoying hearing her talking about those things that almost made him laugh yesterday night. Even now, she was thinking about that? And this is the reason why Savage is turning his back on him?

"Leave me alone." She demanded, her voice is angry, but he is enjoying it. He had no time to leave what he enjoys.

"Why are you still here?"

"I said leave me alone!"

"I didn't cheat, querida." He spoke, his voice was throaty.

Luna stilled as shivers conquered her limbs, her heart was throbbing, her anger cooled down. One thing she caught from what he said is... querida... He called her querida!

"All I want to touch is you, querida."

She clinched her thighs feeling something ticklish between her legs. It's this again. She needs something again. This is what happens when she hears more of his deep baritone voice. She was nervous to think about hearing more of it, what will happen if she hears more of it?

"Don't make Savage worried."

She heard the clicking of the door knob surprising her. He is already leaving?

"Wait." She got up to stop him only to see the full darkness in her room, unable to see anything.

"Marido?"

He hummed, making her forget what she wanted to say. He was still there and he was waiting for her reply. What would she say? What is she going to say anyway? She looked down thinking what to say but seconds later, nothing came out of her mind.

"Nothing..." She shook head and then heard her door closing, then her lights were turned on, and Gael was standing there with the cart of food.

"Milady..."

She looked at Gael's worried face. His eyes were sad and his shoulders were down. But she wasn't in her right mind. She was thinking about what the King said.

I didn't cheat, querida. All I want to touch is you, querida.

I didn't cheat, querida. All I want to touch is you, querida.

Her mind was occupied with his words and she's burning inside. Her face is on fire and her heart is spacing out.

"Gael..." She covered her face with her two hands.

"Do I deserve a King?" She looked down on her hands making a realization.

"I am adopted. I don't have a good background. I am not wealthy... why would I deserve a King?" She then looked at him, full of questions in her mind.

She doesn't know but it suddenly came into her mind that she was really married to a billionaire, or a King. And why would she be treated like his real wife when she's just in the castle for her family? She is adopted. She doesn't deserve good treatment from someone noble.

Gael was standing there stunned, unable to answer her question. He could not comprehend what she was asking and why would she ask him that. He can say that his King deserves a noble woman, a standard woman with power and social connections. He looked at his milady and remembered what he knew about her.

"You are a Princess, milady. You deserve my King."

Confusion was drawn into her face from what her valet said.

"Princess? I am adopted. I have lived in an orphanage since I was born." She shrugged.

But her valet looks serious.

"You are Leonardo's Princess, mi reina. Please take your meal." Gael is back at his gentle smile. Now that his milady is fine, he will be fine too.

She was confused for a minute from his response but disregarded it, maybe he was just kidding.

Gael's milady is back to her enthusiasm. She is now smiling a lot and more talkative than before.

After eating her meal, she went downstairs to check the flowers in the castle. She also went to the kitchen to check their fridge for some ingredients. She would talk and talk while Gael was listening and. He likes to hear her historical stories and her appreciation for little things that he didn't even know why they needed to be appreciated.

"The moon..." She was looking at the moon while feeling the breeze touching her skin.

She likes the view of the moon, she never get tired of it. Her papà told her once that she was named through the beauty of the moon. Her eyes were as beautiful as the moon which is his father's favorite. It was just sad that... he left without even having the chance to thank him.

Closing her eyes, she smelled the air like embracing it. She exhaled as she looked up to the full moon.

Thank you, papà. You are the best man I have ever met. I love you.

"You should go inside, milady." Gael just demanded because he's worried that she might get cold. His milady did not decline and said goodbye to the moon before walking back inside the castle.

His milady waited for him to close the door of the balcony before walking to her room. This is one of the things he likes from his milady. She doesn't leave him behind even though she could do it.

"Is a concubine really a sexual partner, Gael?" She asked as they walked towards her room.

She was still curious about what they really are. And if they are sexual partners of the King, why would he say he didn't cheat?

"Some concubines are just candidates to be the main wife of the King. And some are just concubines in name, for nobility."

She stopped looking at him shocked.

"Why didn't you tell me that earlier?" She complained and thought about what she did.

She just stressed herself for nothing! She even called the King a cheater! And... And... She demanded to leave her alone! What the hell did she do?

Her eyes directly went to the left wing of the castle, specifically to the breech wood door of the King.

"What have I done?" She gulped and started walking to the opposite wing.

After knocking at the door, she opened it and closed it behind Gael only to realize that she wasn't holding a torch.

So here she is, in the full darkness in his room and no sign of light. But then she heard footsteps making her heart beat faster and later on, she saw a little fire growing somewhere in the dark. It was a torch on the bookshelf. She was too focused on the growing light of the fire and unexpectedly gaped from what she just saw...

"Marido. y-you..."

She saw his left leg when walking away from the light! Did she just see another part of his body?

"I'm naked."

She stiffened, face burning as she looked somewhere in the darkness.

"... to change clothes."

Oh. She thought it was something else. How disappointing.

"That look- says something more."

She looked away embarrassed as she heard a small chuckle making her surprised. W-What was that? Is he laughing? She made him laugh?

"Go back to your room and rest." He demanded calm, without any evidence of laugh anymore. It was like his mood changed in a snap and was demanding her to step out from his room.

"I... I came here to say sorry. W-Will you forgive me?"

He didn't respond, more like a silence.

"I mean... forgive me for misunderstanding you... I was too reckless and didn't think twice. I... I'm sorry if I called you a cheater-

"I like it."

"Huh?"

She was stunned. W-What did he just say?

"I like it when you're jealous."

Her heart spaced out, her body is burning. She can't breathe!

"Milady?"

She woke up after hearing her valet's voice. Now she realized that she went out to the King's room and slammed it to hide her face even though everyone knew that she was in the darkness.

It wasn't planned but she covered her face with her two hands to hide from Gael her reddened cheeks and ran to her room. She smashed herself in her bed and screamed. She then hurriedly went under her manta when she heard her door clicking and Gael entered.

Gael can't see my face now.

"Milady?"

She tried calming down. Inhaling and exhaling, then inhaling and exhaling. Damn! She wasn't expecting that from the King. In her six month life in the castle, he had been cold towards her. He doesn't talk much. And she is not even sure if he is listening to her when reading.

Calm down, Luna.

That night, she didn't sneak out to his room to read him books. On the next day, she didn't sneak out again. Until it became a week, she had never entered his room. She wants to, but she doesn't want to.

Every day, she was fighting with herself whether to go to him or not. She was too shy to face him. And just by hearing his name or anything related to him, her heart would go crazy and she would start to burn, especially her face. She didn't know what to do so she made her busy with any work she could do in the castle.

"Here is ya chocolate-avocado pudding, mi riena." Gael put her snack beside her portraits.

Just to make herself busy, yes, she is trying hard at sketching.

"Thanks." She looked at him and continued erasing what she started again.

Gael watches her sketch and then erases it. Draw and erase it. She would groan when she failed and then take a spoon of the chocolate-avocado pudding and then draw again.

Three hours passed, she stared at the lines of her pencil and formed a flower, no color, plainly kindergarten sketch. She crumpled the paper and threw it at her back and rested her elbows on the glass table with her chin. Tapping her index finger to the table while moving her right toes, she thinks of what to draw.

Gael couldn't stop chuckling as he collected the mountainous crumpled papers of his milady that couldn't stop groaning, scowling, and sighing.

"I'm going to sleep, I'm tired." She stood up from her seat and was supposed to help Gael fix her mess. He finished it in a snap, not leaving any mess.

"That's unfair." She scowled as she walked to her bed stomping her feet and sitting.

"You rest, milady. Have a prosperous night." He bowed his head and turned off the chandeliers and turned on the LED strip lights and the Biel Molten Lava Light above her bed.

As Gael closed the door, she deposited herself to the bed and looked at the beauty of the Biel Molten Lava Light. This light is really pleasing to the eyes and it is very good to use as a 'sleep light'. She sighed and went under cover of her manta.

She hugged one of her pillows and she thought of one thing.

What could he be doing that straight week without her, reading him a book?

But another disapproving thought came into her mind saying that the King can live without her anyway.

"Cleopatra VII ruled ancient Egypt as co-regent (first with her father, then with her two younger brothers and finally with her son) for almost three decades."

She stilled after hearing the voice that had been hunting her dreams. Her heart started to race, her face starting to burn. Is he reading her a book? About Celopatra?

"She was part of a dynasty of Macedonian rulers founded by Ptolemy, who served as general under Alexander the Great during his conquest of Egypt in 332 B.C. Well-educated and clever, Cleopatra could speak various languages and served as the dominant ruler in all three of her co-regencies."

This is unbelievable. He is really reading her a book!

"Her romantic liaisons and military alliances with the Roman leaders Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, as well as her supposed exotic beauty and powers of seduction, earned her an enduring place in history and popular myth."

What a good voice to hear.

She started to calm down as she heard more. She started being attentive and excited to hear Cleopatra's history.

"Her life comes from the work of Greco-Roman scholars, particularly Plutarch. Born in 70 or 69 B.C., Cleopatra was a daughter of Ptolemy XII (Auletes)..."

As he continued reading her words, phrases into sentences, she felt peace. And she had a peaceful sleep.
