“You don’t understand, Jasmine,” Ethan said softly, his voice a low rumble. “You are not a guest anymore. You’re ours, and you are leaving with us.”
The finality in his tone made the atmosphere even more tense. I looked around the hall nervously, my breath coming in short, panicked puffs. This was the only world I knew. A world of cold floors, betrayal, leftover scraps, and the constant dull ache of being unwanted.
