Chapter 1 Attention

Chapter 1 Attention

Juliana's POV

In this life we live in, not everyone is given what they want nor what they desire..

Even at that, people still do whatever it takes to get what they want.. even if they have to stomp on people like me, the weak and less privileged or the wealthy and influential associates with them.

They just don't give a fuck as long as the number one spot is theirs, as long as they're at the top.

There are those who no matter how low they are in life, would never in a million years go through the low road.

They rather crawl their way up than harm anyone.

The world as they say has two different kinds of people.

And it depends on you, who you want to impersonate.

The void and stingy feeling of emptiness. The feeling was very familiar to me, since I was a little girl.

I never knew who my father was, all I know is he left my mom when she found out she was pregnant with me.

They actually called me a miracle baby, my mother had many miscarriages, as her uterus was infected. And from what I heard, my father was patient enough for her to get pregnant the tenth time.

Yeah, for the tenth time.

I was that tenth pregnancy that actually survived.

Unfortunately he expected I was going to die soon, just like the rest of his late children.

And during that difficult time my mother needed her husband, she found out he had a mistress and already has three kids with her.

They were older than me though, with two or three years in between.

That day they had a heated argument and he left her.

My father left his legally married wife to be with a mistress.

He took everything, every single thing they owned together leaving my mom with nothing but the clothes on her back.

Not long after, I came into the picture. With everything that happened, my mother had no one to ask for help.

All her friends left her hanging.

She raised me all on her own, taking lots of odd jobs just to meet our daily needs.

Time passed, and I grew up.

Yes. I grew up to be an independent woman with the help of my mother.

Even though I didn't have the love of a father. It never fazed me, instead it made me feel stronger than ever, it just fueled me to be just like my mother, a proud independent woman.

Our happy life didn't last for long.

Years later, something terribly terrible happened.

I came back from school to find my Mom on the floor.

My mother had fainted.

Her mouth was dripping with blood.

I can never forget the pain that I felt seeing my mother, my protector, the person I held closest to my heart in that threatening condition.

In minutes, we were in the town's local hospital. If truth be told, that was to say the worst day of my life.

When the doctor came out of my mother's wardroom.

He told me that my mother had cancer, Cancer of the lungs to be precise.

Their hospital didn't have the right equipment for cases like this. He said that we would need to transfer her to another country for the required operation.

And that, that was what changed everything. That was what changed my life forever.

Just to save enough money, I had to drop out of college. I started taking odd jobs just to make enough money.

My mother was in the hospital for a total of Eight months. And still I haven't made enough money for the transfer.

That's why I'm here today.

In a motel, doing maids work. Wearing their female uniform, a light blue knee length dress.

I sighed softly. With the back of my hand I cleaned the sweat off my forehead.

I'm doing this all for my mother.

No one else.

"Hey Juliana?.."

Oh God, why?...why me!.

The lady in the slimy clothes?.. Well, that's the motel's owner's daughter.

Becca Reyes.

Annoying as they come.

"You missed a spot!.." she smirked walking past me, on the path I already mopped.

My mouth flew open as I stared at her retreating figure and the muddy trails she left behind.

If I could snap the head off her body.. I would have done that long ago.

Unfortunately I can't, I need the job.

Lucky me.

LOCATION:- MILAN, ITALY.

Milan.

The second largest city in Italy. Located on the northern plains, this city is also the nation's business capital and an important European center of service Industries and manufacturing.

So in short this city is a tough place to have business rivals. If not careful or smart enough you can and will be crushed, and all you've worked hard for will be taken right before your eyes.

One of the Masters, one of the men feared by the whole of Italy.

Francis de'Medici.

One of the most successful business men in Italy. A Handsome specimen, fixed with jet black hair and piercing phoenix blue eyes, 6 ft 7 tall and set with a rocking muscular body.

With his thick Italian accent he drives all the women crazy.

And yes. Even the married ones.

For generations, the de'Medici name has been held with pride and authority, such doesn't just happen over night.

Many people were put down for the de'Medici name to be where it is today.

And Francis is planning to hold that family image, plus the family motto.

Family First.

Pretty short and simple.

And the female de'Medici who's loved by almost everyone.

Roxanne de'Medici, the goddess of Milan.

The female version of Francis, except her blue eyes are much more paler than his.

His beloved sister, the one person he cares for the most in the entire world. Unfortunately the siblings became motherless at the birth of Roxanne.

Still, they were loved very much by their father.

Al-mando de'Medici.

THE de'MEDICI'S MANSION.

In his gray coloured suit that fitted him like a glove, Francis looked flawless.

His hair smoothly gelled to the side and a golden watch seated on his wrist.

He sat at the head of the table, a piece of newspaper in his hands, and on the table a cup of caffè nero (black coffee).

"m-Master, the Doctor just c-called and he said that the Young Miss is awake.." a maid said as her head hung low.

Francis was silent for a few seconds until he finally spoke up.. "Tell the guards to get the car ready.. I'll be leaving in a few minutes". He said. His voice booming with such authority it shook the maid to her bone.

"Yes m-Master.. I'll do that right away" the maid said, her head still facing the floor.

"You may leave now.." he said, his head still buried in the newspaper.

"Thank you m-Master.." she turned out of the room.

At RAY'S MIRACLE HOSPITAL

WARDROOM 12, FLOOR 205.

Different kinds of flowers could be seen in this room. With the fancy furniture and the large space, one would think of this as a bedroom not a hospital room.

Francis could be seen on the bed beside his look alike..

"I'm glad you're finally awake my piccolo fiore (little flower)" He beamed stroking some strings of her black hair behind her ears.

"Come on big brother.. I'm fine, better than ever even." Roxanne smiled, the white bandage around her head making her look slightly paler than usual.

"The doctor will be the judge of that piccolo fiore (little flower)"

"So how's father?.." Roxanne asked. Her voice sounded a little nervous.

"He's on a business trip in Abu Dhabi, he won't be back for a while, maybe a month or two give or take.." Francis said, pouring some water in a glass cup.

"He doesn't know, does he?–

"No piccolo fiore (little flower) he doesn't know what happened to you, yet.. if he did you'd have company cause he'd have a heart attack but not before lecturing you.." He said, handing her the glass.

Roxanne laughed trying not to spill the water over. "Brother, that wasn't funny!.." she playfully hit his arm. . "So how long have I been unconscious?.." Roxanne asked.

Curiosity filled her entire being.

First she blacked out and now she's awake.. What happened during that time?.. What was her current situation?.

Those were the questions going through her head.

"Well, let's just say a couple of weeks.." Francis shrugged.

Like it was no big deal. She was awake, at least she was fine and healthy.

Except.

"There's one thing though, and I think you should hear this from me–

"There's no need brother.." Roxanne giggled. Francis' face was filled with confusion. "I've already heard what the doctor said.. He already told me I won't be able to walk for a while.." She sighed softly.
