Astor stood by his office window, phone pressed to his ear.

His father’s voice had been gruff yet laced with something Astor rarely heard, pride.

"You should be happy now, Father," Astor said, his voice steady.

His father, Mr. Harrington, remained silent for a moment before letting out a sigh. “At least I’m married now,” Astor continued. "You and Mother should be proud of me."
