The tension coiled so tight in my belly that every single nerve felt like it was on fire. I managed to hold it together—barely—until he finally pulled his foot away to grab another slice of pizza.
The rest of dinner was a hazy blur. My cheeks burned the entire time, my body humming with a toxic mix of frustration and desperate need.
