Towards evening, Gret informed me that there would be a gathering of everyone in the village to celebrate a little festival of some sort, but he believed it was an idea of the Chief to throw a welcome party for me. I was surprised at this. And I was alarmed when he further told me that I would occupy a place of honor beside the Chief during the festivities. But I did not want such an honor! I resented it!
