Lucas fell silent, carefully going through the report given by the bodyguards he had ordered to escort Eve to the hospital. After they finished and left his office, Neil rose from his chair and lifted both hands in apology.
“I shouldn’t have left her,” he said. “I’m sorry.”
“Yes. You should’ve ignored that call and stayed by her side.” Lucas shot him a sharp look. “Can you try to be a little more useful?”
Neil accepted the insult with a wry smile. “So, what are we going to do now?”
