After that dinner, Lucas’s attitude toward Eve changed. He treated Eve kindly, and at first, Eve found his behavior bizarre. Aside from his overly protective nature, Lucas no longer said or did annoying things that triggered Eve’s emotions.

This change made Eve feel a strange flutter in her stomach every time she saw Lucas. Her heartbeat grew more erratic by the day, especially when they were close and she heard Lucas call her name.
