I finally drifted into an uneasy sleep sometime after dawn, the kind where dreams tangled with reality—blood on white lace, Sage’s voice promising vengeance, my parents’ faces fading into shadows. When I woke, sunlight streamed through the curtains, bright and unforgiving.

I blinked at the clock on the nightstand, groaning softly. I’d slept longer than I had in years. Then again, yesterday had been… everything.
