Hope

Keith's presence looms behind me like a fatal dream. Even though he’s silent as I guide him and Jace to the second level of the main house he is impossible to ignore.

I bring him to a door at the end of the hallway.

“This will be your room,” I say neutrally and then point to the one beside you.“ And Jace you can stay here. There is an adjoining door should you both need it.”

“Thoughtful,” Jace comments, giving Keith a look I can't decipher.

“Just making sure you feel comfortable. I know Beta’s like to stay with their Alpha’s during travel.”

“Smart female,” Jace smiles.
