I have been speechless all day, wondering how Gertrude figured her way out of the murder. It is now so clear that she has people working for her in every corner you turn. I had played this game before, and I lost.
It's time to level the field before the times turn on me again. I am a wolf assassin, and I have been one for years. It's about time I started acting like one.
Agnar was soundly sleeping facing the other side of the bed. He is a light sleeper, but when he is stressed out, he wouldn't get up, even if you played a drum on his head. I got up, grabbed my leather clothes, a black sweater with a hood, which was neatly hanging, and I sneaked into the bathroom to change. The minute I was done, I tiptoed out of the room, and avoiding the cameras, I made my way out of the pack house. I found the spot where I hid my bike and the bag.
I strapped the bag to my bag while I sneaked past the two guards arguing about who had the bigger d*ck.
"Men and their stupid thinking, I wonder who told them ladies give a f*ck about their wretched dicks. "
The security at the pack house was doubled, ever since the rogue incident, I guess they decided to be careful as they don't want stories about rogues sneaking in anymore. I made my way into Gertrude Quarters and planted a bug in there. If I was going to beat her, I needed to hear all she does and if possible see all she sees.
I was about to step out of her quarters when I came face-to-face with one of her guards.
But he didn't recognize me since it was a little too dark and I was wearing a good. He charged towards me, but I had no time as it was only a matter of time before Agnar noticed my absence.
I side-stepped him and quickly knocked him out.
I have no reason to kill him, if not I would have killed him instantly, I checked his pulse, and he was still breathing. I hurriedly made my way back into the Alpha's quarters and sneaked back into the room. I was glad when I found out he was still soundly asleep. I quickly got into the bathroom, stashed the bag in one of the closets, and quickly changed back into his shirt before going back to bed.

I was done having breakfast with Agnar in the room when I complained of fatigue. Well, if he was going to keep postponing marking me and the ceremony, I had to keep up the act. Besides, just in case the topic of the knocked-out guard comes up, nobody would ever suspect me.
He suggested I go to the pack clinic to be thoroughly examined, and I accepted immediately as I didn't want to give him any doubts.
I left for the pack clinic and complained the same to the doctor; he gave me drugs to take home with me and advised me to go rest at home.
"Tell me Agnar hasn't knocked you up yet." I heard Gertrude's voice from behind me.
"Why, are you excited that you will be a grandma?" I asked, anticipating her response. She laughed so hard.
"Yay, I am so excited," she pretended, then turned immediately to leave.
"Gertrude, or should I say Luna Dowager?" She gave me a hard stare as if she were going to carve out my kidneys if I called her that one more time, but I dared her to try.
"You offered to guide me in my job as a Luna, and I don't want to make a mess of things."
"Let me hear it already."
"I recently stumbled on a murder incident," I said, while keenly looking at her to read her expression.
"A killed someone while B went down for it; what would you do as the Luna? I mean, if you were the Luna?" I went on to ask while she stood there dumbfounded.
"What murder?" she finally said after a while.
"It's the murder at the"
"The old house?" she screamed while starting to shiver.
"The old house? I thought the culprit was caught."
I replied, and I watched her sigh in relief.
"I just wanted to know what I should do in case I find myself in such a situation," I quickly said to her, smiling.
I could tell she was flustered. I have been contemplating what to do about her. I knew she was evil but had no idea how bad it was. Killing Agnar after extracting all the information I needed was just as if I was playing into their plan.
"They want him dead, after all, but I won't give them what they want. I concluded as I watched her excuse herself and she hurried out of the clinic. I have no fond feelings for Agnar, but I would keep him alive long enough to get them all punished.
I got home to rest as the doctor prescribed. I was glad Agnar wouldn't be at home; he said something about visiting a few packs to talk about strategies to curb the excesses of the rogue packs, but I was surprised to see him sitting on the couch going through his phone.
"You are back?" he said the minute he saw me.
"Yeah, shouldn't you be at the meeting?"
"I was worried about your health," he said, and I rolled my eyes.
"If you are so worried, why the f*ck are you here and not at the clinic?" I thought to myself. I wonder how I was blind to all this.
"I know you're p*ss*d I didn't come to the clinic," he said as he hugged me. His touch disgusted me, but I held it in.
"Why don't I make it up to you?" he said.
"I have a surprise for you," he announced before I could say another word. How could I forget what today was? He had stocked a portion of the wardrobe with clothes he bought for me.
I pretended not to know what the surprise was and was excited at the same time, just like it happened before, he pulled open the wardrobe, and it was stocked to the brim.
"Oh my gosh, how?" I pretended to be surprised.
"That is not all."
"There is more?"
Yeah, I forgot about the masseuse, or would I say the styler? Whatever he called it, I turned it down when he offered it in my past life, but not anymore.
He clapped his hands just like I had thought. Two women walked in. The first lady was in her thirties; she was the styler, while the second lady was her assistant.
"What do you think about getting a makeover, I brought the stylist to you."
The little things he did that swept me off my feet. I fell head over heels in love with him, and I became too blind to see his faults.
"Oh goodness!" I screamed, pretending to be so moved.
"Thank you; I'm so emotional right now." I hugged him.
"I just wanted to do something nice for you; please get well soon, Kay," he said, I nodded, and he went to sit on the couch while the stylist began her magic. I sat down in the mirror but could see him stealing glances at me while she went on washing and styling my hair. After that, she gave me a good massage. I can't believe I had turned this down in my previous life.
I was just a stupid, silly girl in love with her executioner. I caught Agnar looking up from the magazine he was reading to take a sneak peek at me. I could hear his heart racing, the mate bond was messing with him I guess, When she was done with the massage, they moved on to the pedicure and manicure.
It was just what I needed. A beauty makeover, a new look to face this stage I was about to step into—I mean, what was I thinking when I turned this down?
I looked at the clock, and I knew it was about time. "Any minute from now," I whispered to myself, everything is about to change; the only problem is that it's changing for the worse.
A knock came on the door, and immediately one of the guards at the door walked. He spoke with Agnar in a low tone, but I could hear them anyway. Agnar told him to let the person in.
He hurriedly went back and appeared later with a lady carrying a bag, she looked pale and sad, like a worn-out sack, wearing a black gown.
Without being told, you could tell she was in a lot of pain. Agnar stood up the minute he saw her.
"Celine," he called out, quickly covering the space between them as he hugged her. She broke down, crying, while he comforted her.
I would have pitied her if only I had no idea that she was the snake that swallowed me whole in my previous life.
"Kay, this is my best friend Celine; meet my mate, Katya," he introduced us. If only he knew that I needed no introduction whatsoever, I could recognize this green snake even when blindfolded.
"You finally found your mate," she exclaimed while pretending she was happy, but she wouldn't fool me anymore with her cheap acting.
"Finally, the game is about to begin.
