I dressed for work that morning like someone putting on armour. Leo stood in the doorway of the bedroom watching me, his coffee in one hand.
His eyes following every movement with that quiet attentiveness that I had come to understand was his version of saying things he hadn't found words for yet.
When I reached for my blazer he crossed the room and held it open for me, and I slipped my arms in and he smoothed it across my shoulders from behind, his hands resting there for a moment longer than the task required.
