It was the colour of late afternoon, that specific blue that tipped toward gold at the edges, and the water was warm around me and the sounds were the sounds of my family, Sandy's delighted screaming and Brian's focused instructions to himself and Leo's voice, low and warm, encouraging and teasing in equal measure.
