Harlow lowered his head with a furrowed brow. It was clear he was disturbed, but his reply still made me feel so embarrassed that I wanted to bury myself in the ground right then and there. If only I could have been wiser in controlling myself. 

“I have nothing. I’m just a poor rogue and can’t give you what you want.” He pressed his lips together. 

The pounding in my chest throbbed with pain. The pulses spread from my chest to my entire body. Aching and disappointed from rejection, yet I was too stubborn. 

“But you have what I need.” Peace. I wanted it. 

“Are you sure?” he furrowed....
