Lena’s phone buzzed, pulling her from sleep.

She blinked, the glow of the screen blurring her vision. It was almost midnight. Her heart skipped when she saw Arianna’s name.

Why would her secretary call this late?

Lena swiped to answer, her voice scratchy. “Ari?”

“Ma'am, I...I’m so sorry to wake you,” Arianna’s voice shook. “But something happened. Someone broke into the office.”

Lena shot up in bed, her chest tightening. “What?”

“The police are here. They said the door was forced open. I came as soon as security called.”

Lena’s stomach twisted. “Was anything taken?”

“Yes,” Arianna whispered, her voice low. “The project files. All the physical copies are gone.”...
