After lunch and Lucas departure, Eden examined the packages the valets had taken out of Ian’s sedan.

 She assumed they were intended for her. Who else would her husband have bought hats and jewelry for? Yet she didn't feel like opening them, not yet.

 The mere fact that he'd chosen them for her made her happy; but she didn't dare cling to the hope that this gesture might mean more than the simple loving attention he’d been showing her all along. 

Eden wanted to see him, to hear his voice, and she wondered if this gentle warmth in her heart was indeed love. 

She feared it might be.
