#Chapter9
I slowly walked up to the steps and made my way up. I heard whispers but I don't think they knew who I was or what I was doing here so they didn't bother me thankfully.
Arriving inside Ade was waiting for me. He looked sharp in his suit, Karly stood next to him her arms crossed and eyes staring daggers at me.
"c'mon they're waiting for you "Ade said grabbing my arm and walking fast to the elevator. I removed my glasses and took a few deep breaths trying to calm my rapidly beating heart.
Fuck I'm shitting myself right now.
They walked us up to the room towards the end of the hallway. The doors were big and mahogany brown and I was nervous for what was behind them.
"just tell the truth, tell them you found him and took him to your house to secure his safety" I stared at him weirdly.
That's exactly what happened and that's all I'm going to say. Why is acting like I'm stupid. From the look of pure anxiety and stress displayed on his face I decided to keep my mouth shut.
The doors opened and I was guided inside the room where the judge sat there looking impatient but relieved when he realised I was there. I'm actually not late I swear.
My heels made an echo around the room as I walked further inside. Ade rushed over to the benched whispering something to the judge.
I looked around and scanned the room seeing a bunch of faces I've never seen before. I recognised to an older man sitting near the front he was Zach's father a well-known business man.
Suddenly my eyes locked with Zach. He looked handsome in his dark navy suit and his glasses that made him look sexy.
Knows not the time Gen.
His eyes narrowed when he realised what I was doing here. "what the fuck are you doing here" he whispered harshly only loud enough for people close to us to hear. Ade was suddenly nervous his eyes darting between us, but quickly pulled me forwards.
"saving your ass" I mumbled before making my presence known to the judge. He was a relatively old man probably in his 60's or something he offered me a kind smile.
The introduction was made and I was sat up on the bench just listening in and responding when needed.
"Please state your name for the record," A man says walking up to me. He seemed calm and probably knew what my relevance here was.
Zach was now looking at the pictures that Ade brought to me last night.
I licked my lips before responding. "Imogen Martinez "I simply answered. It was saying my full name like that I don't know why though.
"what relationship do you have with MR Johnson?" I tied not to feel intimidated by the amount of people staring at me and focused on the question.
Relationship, how the hell am I supposed to respond. Were not even friends with the amount of arguments we've had.
"I don't have one I just know him because of the incident" I answered honestly. Frankly I'm too much of a pussy to lie in a court or come up with a different story.
"Can you tell the court exactly what happened on march 2nd "well this is going to really test my memory. I glanced over at Zach and noticed him staring blankly at me, I wanted him to give me a smile at least but I got nothing.
Lovely
"I work at the club on Broadgate and was trying to get away from a man that was following me when I decided to enter the building to hide and that's where I found Mr Johnson. He was tied up to a chair at the back of the room with bruises all over him"
I paused for a minute but the man urged me to carry on, Ade even gave me a weak smile.
"I decided to help, I know it was risky since I didn't know him but I untied him and called an Uber to take him to my home where he stayed the night in my guest room" by the end my mouth was very dry. This always happens when I'm nervous.
"Did you have any idea who this man was at the time?" yeah it was probably shocking to a lot of people that I didn't know but frankly he isn't such a public man.
"no not until I saw him later on the news "he nodded his head in understanding.
"Did you say anyone else in the building on the night in question?" now that I think of it I didn't really look around I just concentrated on getting Zach out of there.
"No, the building was an abandoned one it probably hasn't been used for years" definitely not with all the mould and rust it had inside.
"I have no further questions, your honour," he says turning to the judge who seemed to be watching Zach carefully as I was questioned.
Once the session had ended we were all allowed to leave the court room. I had to sign a few papers but that didn't bother me.
By the time I got outside of the court I was too busy trying to relax my mind. It was really nerve-racking to be in there but I'm glad I did it. Hopefully I was able to be of some help to his case.
Suddenly I was being ambushed by people as they fired questions at me. I could barely concentrate on a single question but I was swiftly moved to the side by a rough hand pulling at my arm. I nearly stumbled but luckily caught my balance.
I lifted my eyes and instantly saw the back of Zach, I recognised his suit from the court and knew his back that well from the amount of times Hes walked away from me.
When we got to somewhere safe he grabbed my waist and pulled me against him. He buried his head into my shoulder as he wrapped his arms around me.
"thank you "he whispered as we both stood there. I slowly brought my hand up and pushed at his chest, I felt uncomfortable.
Maybe that's because you enjoyed it, shut up.
"You're welcome Mr Johnson," I said as I swiftly turned on my heel and walked towards my car. I placed my sunglasses over my eyes and ignored the distant calls of the reporters.
I wished he came after me, or held me back but he didn't he just watched me drive off. It hurt more that I could have imagined.
