I watch the door as it closes behind Maddy and her Dad. Colt Maddox is right, he has been there and done so much. I should have probably called him the minute that I knew what had happened, but I could betray Maddy like that. I just wanted to protect and support her. Any way and for as long as she would let me.
My eyes don’t move from the door. I wait to her dad start yelling again or something. My leg is bouncing up and down quickly. I know Colt would never lay a hand on anyone. Besides me apparently. Still stress isn’t good for Maddy...
