The urgency in Jacob’s voice sent a sharp prickle down my spine. Something was definitely wrong, but I couldn’t quite place what it was. Maybe Jacob had figured out who the traitor was and needed me there before delivering punishment.

“What’s the problem?” Tommy asked, noticing the worried expression on my face.

“Just got a call from Jacob. I need to return to the mansion,” I replied absentmindedly, my voice sounding hollow.

“Then you have to go. Don’t worry, you can visit whenever you want. And don’t forget what we discussed.” Tommy gave me an encouraging look, but it barely registered in my mind.
