Chapter 6 six

She said those things and then completely lost consciousness. The next time she woke up, she was in an unfamiliar room with an unfamiliar man curled up next to her.

The garments lying around next to the bed were sufficient evidence of what had occurred the night before. She had a little dry throat.

She began comforting herself after feeling depressed for some time. That guy was considerably better than the pig last night, so at least he still looked alright.

Recalling the events of the previous evening, Stella was concerned about Channing. She put on her clothes quickly because she wanted to go back. She appeared to have startled the man in bed as she turned to depart.

His eyebrows were somewhat furrowed. Stella quickly covered his head with the blanket and gave him a kind pat while muttering, "It's okay, go back to sleep." She appeared to be enticing a young child.

Stella took out running as soon as she could hear nothing more beneath the cover. Once more, the creditor had visited her home. Fortunately, Channing was out looking for her.

Stella requested him to stay at his friend's house for a while instead of going home when she called to let him know she was safe. Then she went looking for Sherry. Two months of concealing here and there later, Stella one day became aware that she was expecting a child.

Stella got up around four in the morning. After getting up, she had a glass of water, sat down in the living room, and began to watch TV series and movies about her three years of first love. She made an effort to reclaim that sense of innocence, purity, and sweetness.

After confining herself in the chamber for three days, Stella was eventually able to formulate some fundamental concepts. She was about to draw it out when she got a call from an unfamiliar number.

"Hi, who is this?" she said formally, setting down her pencil.

"Hello, Mr. Conrad's assistant, Nathan here. Tomorrow, Mr. Conrad is leaving for a business trip to the Maldives. He would want to ask you for the shirt with the blue and white stripes."

Stella was very irritated to have her thoughts interrupted, especially by something so insignificant. That gave her suspicions that Clarence was deliberately looking for trouble. Then, in a nasty tone, she said, "Pardon me? What does his shirt have to do with me since I've divorced him? Please ask the housekeeper."

When she was done, she hung up without hesitation. After two minutes, her phone rang again.

Furthermore, Clarence was the one making the call. After a few period of silence, she continued to pick it up. "Stella Remodel, come back in half an hour."

"I..." This time, Clarence hung up the phone without waiting for her to answer. Stella reached for her phone, ready to give that man a hard time. After taking a deep breath to settle herself, she stood up and walked out of the room.

Sherry questioned her, "Honey, it's late now, where are you going?"

"I'm going to drag that bastard to hell with me!" "..." Stella said it, of course, just for kicks. How could she possibly compete with Clarence?

When she arrived at the Starry Lake Mansion, she saw that everyone had already gone to bed and that the entire area was eerily quiet. Stella pulled open the bedroom door after going to the second level and upstairs.

Clad in casual attire, Clarence was seated on the couch. His thin fingers were flipping the document in front of him. Despite hearing the sound, he did not look up to look at her.

Stella headed directly for the closet, and after thoroughly going through everything, she eventually located the blouse with the blue-and-white stripes the assistant had mentioned.

When she saw the shirt, she was a little surprised. It was the shirt she had purchased especially for Clarence the year they had recently gotten married, when she learned he intended to take a business trip to Hawaii. The clothing was perfect for going to the beach.

She handed him the shirt, but all he could do was stare at her icily and say, "Don't try using such a cheap way to please me, and avoid those mind-games that would be exposed right away."

Stella had no idea what mind trick she had pulled, but ever since, she had stopped buying him gifts. He had purposefully requested her return for something he considered unnecessary at the time. What would it be, if not to get even and make a fool of her?

With a stealthy exit from the closet, Stella took the garment. It ended up on the bed. She noticed as she was about to speak that Clarence was on the phone with someone. He spoke in a low tone the entire time, giving her no more than a fleeting glance, as if she didn't exist.

When Stella realized there was never a good moment to discuss the divorce, she turned around and walked out. She arrived and left with the speed of a breeze.

When she left the bedroom, Clarence at last raised his head. It appeared as though he was surprised by her sudden departure as he watched her back.

With a pursed mouth, he said indifferently to the person on the other end of the conversation, "Yes, that's it for now, I still have other things to do."

Just as Stella arrived in the downstairs living area, she heard a call and was redirected. Standing on the steps, Clarence gave her a more commanding glance.

As usual, his expression was neutral. "Have you found the shirt?"

"I've put it on your bed."

"What about the others?"

Stella questioned not entirely understanding what he was getting at, "What others?"

Clarence scowled, displaying discontent. "My business trip lasts for a week, do you think I'll wear only one shirt?"

Stella could not express her feelings. She always packed his bags for him when he had to go for a business trip the following day when she had stayed there in the past. She had no idea that, in addition to receiving no compliments during their three years of modest marriage, she had also contributed to the development of this nasty habit in him.

"Mr. Conrad, I have to remind you again," Stella remarked quietly. I'm no longer responsible for finding your clothing or packing your luggage because we are already divorced. Please stop phoning me pointlessly and go find the housekeeper or your next spouse. I appreciate it."

Clarence maintained the same look. He moved at a moderate pace downstairs and came to a stop in front of her. "Let me also remind you of it. Since we haven't completed the divorce procedures, you are still legally my wife and the only one with the authority to take these actions. Thus, there's no more space for conversation?"

"I don't want to repeat it the second time." Stella's lips were pursed. She pulled out her phone and began looking up a number. "Great, since you like to order someone that much, I'll ask Vivian Sean to come pack your luggage for you, she'll definitely run faster than a rabbit."

But her phone was taken, just as she was about to call the number after finding it.

Clarence gave her a cold glance. "Stella Ramodil, have I been too lenient to you recently?"

It took Stella some time to smile as she stared at her empty hand. "I wish Mr. Conrad would use greater caution when speaking. Those are words I can't handle."

Clarence's expression darkened. "When are you going to quit trying so hard? Stella, please stop pushing me. Please let me know what you need right immediately.”

After pausing for a short while, Stella remarked, "Did you not mention the Conrad Group is what I want last time? Will you please give it to me?”

"You wish."

"Then let's divorce, I don't want anything."

Clarence scowled in frustration. "What else would you say besides that word?" he asked, thrusting one of his hands inside the pocket.

Stella was even more confused. Was it not his constant goal to get rid of her as quickly as possible? Why did it appear that she was the one requesting a divorce right now?
