Chapter 3

Chapter 3

So, falling out of love really does happen in an instant.

Since that day, Evan and I had been sleeping in separate rooms. Even though we still saw each other every day, I remained cold and distant toward him.

When he was in a good mood, he would try to reconcile, speaking to me gently, as if he were granting me a favor that I was obligated to accept.

When he wasn't, he accused me of being ungrateful. How laughable.

I asked him for the car and pulled up the dash cam footage. Turns out, the two of them had been sneaking around for a long time—at least since last year.

The dash cam recorded far too many instances of their indecent behavior. It made me sick to my stomach.

He had the nerve to pick me up, drop me off at home, then go meet her to get intimate, only to return to our house afterward.

Her name was Fiona, an intern at his company. They had been together for a year and a half, often sneaking around during work hours to be with each other.

Fiona looked down on me, her expression full of arrogance and pride.

I furrowed my brow as I stared at her, wondering how she would react if she knew Evan couldn't actually have children.

"So, you're Evan's wife? Evan and I are in love. I hope you're self-aware enough to understand that you can't give him what he wants."

I stared at the young girl with a blank expression, dressed head to toe in designer brands, carrying a luxury handbag.

Evan sure was generous.

"Didn't Evan tell you to hide better? What do you think will happen if the leaders at your company discover his immoral behavior? Could they suspend him?"

Fiona's face twisted in anger.

"Do you know how badly Evan wants to be a father? When he found out I was pregnant, he was so excited that he literally jumped for joy. He promised to give our child a name and a place in his life."

"Evan stopped loving you a long time ago. He told me that once the baby is born, he's going to divorce you and marry me."

I suddenly burst into laughter, remaining composed on the outside. How absurd.

How dare someone act so arrogant about something so shameful?

I hit back, cutting straight to the point:

"Do you even know that Evan can't have children? What do you think he'll do when he finds out he's been played for a fool?"

"As for who the father of your child is—you should know better than anyone."
