I thought he would yell at me, but I assumed wrong. He choked on the word "you" and stopped talking.

He obviously was trying to hold back his anger by gritting his teeth. Then he turned his head, and walked away.

I was shocked. How could he put up with it? After everything I said, he could pretend nothing happened and just walked away. He must have been accustomed to being scolded by me.
