Chapter 82:

Stefan squinted his eyes from bed and rolled over, using his hands to feel the space around him—but there was nothing. He immediately opened his eyes, realizing Dorothy was not beside him.

“Love,” he called, standing up and heading to the bathroom, but it was empty. He came downstairs and found Beatrice and Dorothy laughing together in the kitchen.

“Why are you up so early?” he asked tiredly.

Beatrice and Dorothy exchanged confused glances.

“What?” Stefan asked again.

Dorothy walked toward him and gently touched his forehead. “You’re the one who’s up late. It’s after ten,” she said, pointing at the wall clock.

It was indeed after ten....
