The next day , I called an emergency pack meeting. I knew there would be backlash but I needed to address it head on before things got worse.

The meeting hall was packed with pack members and the atmosphere was tense. People were grouped into clear factions. About half the room stood on my side showing their support. The other half stood closer to where Matteo was positioned looking angry and afraid.
