Talia tipped her head backward, trying to breathe through her nose. She just had to ignore them and keep doing what she knew best. 

Talia ignored their stares and poured her concentration into Miss Milly’s teachings.

They reached the barrier after a twenty-minute walk. The air felt different here, like it was charged with magic.

Miss Milly stopped the group. "This is as close as we go. The barrier is invisible but extremely powerful. It keeps rogues and other threats out of Academy grounds."
