CHAPTER 6
"Your best wasn't enough miss Miller. You know what? I'm fed up with your incompetency, you're fired!" Nick spat out the words at her. Lia placed her hands akimbo and laughed. "What are you talking about Nick? I've worked for you as long as I can remember and now you want to fire me? What do exactly sir Nick?" Amelia was asked.
She found it really unbelievable to have heard what her boss had just said.
"You don't question whatever my decisions are and I'm the boss here and I make decisions." Nick yelled at her.
It hurt inside of him because he didn't mean to yell at her or make her feel bad. This was all Alice's fault and he it made him really vexed.
"Really boss? After working my ass every single day?" Lia felt like she was going to break down in tears any moment. "You should take every of your stuffs and leave this company as soon as possible. I will send you this month's salary. Have a nice day Lia." Nick said and walked out of the office.
Lia felt really bad, sad and angry. She couldn't exactly understand why her boss would just fire her and he has been hard on her since he got to the office and nothing she had done has pleased him and it had gotten her really confused. Now that she has been fired without any tangible reason, she could only sniff in her tears and starts to arrange her things.
Lia arrange her things in a brown box, she darted her eyes around the office as she made her out. She didn't want to leave because she had come to really love the office.
With one final look, she walked out of the office, shutting the door behind her.
"Lia? Where are you going to with your things?" Clara asked with a creased eyebrow as they both met each other at the exit of the company. "Well, the ceo fired me." Lia rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders.
"What? But why? What did you do to him?" Clara was perplexed just like the way Lia had felt when Nick has fired her. "Well, he had been acting really been acting strange and grumpy since he got to the office and he sent me on different errands that were really tiring.
He told me to photocopy some files and I did but he said I wasn't fast enough and boom! He fired me." Lia explained with a sad sigh.
"Just like that? You've been working in this company for as long as I can remember and he just fired you like that? That's totally insane." Clara was really stunned, she could not believe what her best friend had just told her.
"Well, he's the ceo and he makes the rules here and I cannot question him and besides, he wouldn't give me a good reason for his action." Lia sounded really bittered. She felt pulling Nick by his collar and giving him a resounding slap but she knew it was impossible as it would always be in her imagination.
"So, what are you going to do now? You have a little sister to fend for." Clara sighed softly and stared at me with a worried look on her face. I flashed her a small smile. "You don't have to worry about me Clara, I will be back on my feet in no time and besides too, boss promised to send this month's salary."
"Okay. I wish you good luck out there Lia, if you need anything don't hesitate to call me because I'll always be here for you no matter what happens." Clara smiled and tapped Lia lightly on her shoulders. "Thank you Clara but don't worry about me, I'll manage on my own." Lia smiled.
Clara nodded her head and they both shared a brief hug before Lia walked out of the company.

"Hey Shantelle." Shantelle turned swiftly to see a blondie staring down at her with a smile on her face and glasses on that made her look like a nerd.
Shantelle was in the library to research more on the science project that they were given and the last thing she needed was distraction. "I'm Chantria and I just got transferred few days ago." The blondie smiled, trying to start a conversation with Shantelle who didn't look a bit interested in the conversation.
"So?" Shantelle asked, not sparing Chantria a glance. "Well, I noticed that you haven't really noticed that I'm a new student here and I noticed too that you're always alone. So, I want to be friends with you." Chantria smiled and adjusted her glasses to stay on the bridge of her nose.
"The library isn't a place you discuss and if you're caught, you'll be suspended from coming to the library for two weeks." Shantelle said with an eye roll, flipping through the pages of the physics text book on front of her.
"I'm sorry Shantelle, I just came to ask you if you wanna be friends with me." Chantria sighed, her smile suddenly disappearing from her face because of the way Shantelle had responded to her.
"I'm not interested. You found me busy, didn't you? You can leave now, I hate to be disturbed when I'm studying." Shantelle literally told her she didn't want to be friends with her.
Chantria sighed sadly and walked away timidly. "That was a little bit harsh Shantelle. She was only trying to be nice." Shantelle's consciousness told her. She shook her head and focused on what she was doing. She really didn't want to keep friends because she felt that most friends are betrayals and she doesn't want to encounter one.
"I'm better off on my own." She told herself with a small smile.

As Amelia stood waiting for a taxi just outside the company, a droplet touched her hand and then, another.
Lia was surprised until she looked up and found out that, it was about to rain. She wasn't with an umbrella or even a jacket and there was no place to hide except going back to the company which she didn't want to risk.
Soon, the rain started – it was a heavy downpour. Lia didn't know what to do as she stood under the rain. Why did Nick have to fire her today of all day? She felt really unfortunate.
Suddenly, she couldn't feel the rain on her body anymore. She looked up and found an umbrella over her head and when she turned around, she was surprised by whom she saw that actually protected her from getting drenched by the rain.
