Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Ten years later....

Sweat beaded on Terah's forehead. Blood and sweat mixed the air from where she stood. Her white t-shirt was now red from the blood of her enemies. Not her enemies but Sidapa. It turned out some gods were not on the man's side. Some of them were angry for whatever reason she could not fathom. The gods and their infinite grudges. No wonder they had so many wrinkles making them look like a thousand year old.

After a few years of being an assassin, she also made a name for herself. She was known as his assassin. Nobody tries to mess with them.

She really didn't care. For ten years, she had done everything Sidapa wanted. He trained her to become the warrior she was now. Yes. She became a weapon to him, a murderer, an assassin. And his errand girl. In return, he gave her cash to sustain her daily needs. She could say she was living lavishy. She secretly sent some of her cash to her family. They had moved on despite the fact that she was missing for a couple of years. Ten years to be precise.

Terah fought for Sidapa.

After signing a contract with him, she was able to break free from her prison, Dreamland.

She closed her eyes and pictured her room and was suddenly transported. It took her a long time to master that ability. She removed her clothes and went inside the shower to remove the dirt and blood. Aside from her healing abilities, Sidapa transferred one of his powers to her, teleportation.

The coldness of the water enveloped her body. She taught after signing a contract with Death, she was free. It felt like one year she was trapped in Chet's world. She was unable to go out and was jealous of Sidapa's ability to visit Dreamland every now and then. It was difficult for her to go out since her soul was trapped in that place but she was not a quitter. She persisted until she had succeeded. If the body that she will transfer was not yet available, then she will remain in the spiritual world. That was why even if she hastily agreed to deal with the god of Death, she still remained for a couple of months.

She looked at her face in the mirror and smiled bitterly. This was not her face. It was somebody else's body from a mortal whom she didn't know. Death gave it to her when she escaped and told her she needed a body for her mission. She was Althea now.

That was ten years ago. Her once straight hair was replaced by curly hair which made it difficult for her to comb. Sometimes, she wouldn't even waste her precious time. After applying shampoo and other necessary things, she left the bathroom with a towel protecting her body. She put on some clothes and went to her bed.

Her bed dipped due to her weight. She closed her eyes. Ah! This is heaven. Terah missed the softness and warmth of her own bed after her mission.

She scanned her phone, looking for unread messages and missed calls and found one. From her friend, Mariah. It was not her intention to be close again to her but it just happened. She was buying a cup of noodles from a convenience store when Mariah spotted her. She talked nonstop without bothering if she was listening or not. Before she knew it, Mariah had her number.

Dinner at my house.

Nope.

She deleted the message. As much as possible, she does not want to get closer to her again. Imagine the agony of her friend if she will be gone again. For good. When her friend found out about her "death", it took her a lot of years to move on. There were times when she would visit her and her grandmother’s tomb. She would cry her eyes out. She was shouting while asking why Terah just lived like that. There were no traces of her body. They just assumed she was dead. That she was a victim of some criminal organizations. Where they sell her internal organs.

Of course her family were devastated. As well as her siblings.

Her cell phone rang.

HD calling… Not hi-definition but his death. The god of death.

"Hi," she answered on the first ring. "Another mission? I was still having my jet lag from my last mission. You didn't tell me about it in Africa," she groaned.

A chuckle from the other line.

She suddenly felt goosebumps. She did not like that laugh.

“You didn’t even ask.”

“Let me think. Since I didn’t hear a scolding from you, does that mean you were satisfied by my mission?”

Two of Sidapa’s minions turned out to be spies of that goddess. They reported whatever important information about D to the goddess they worshipped.

“Not really since you left a lot of damage to the place. What did I tell you? Lure her to a place where nobody will be harmed.”

Fighting a goddess was not an easy task. She nearly survived. “Ah. I am really sorry. I thought Death did not value life so much. I was really wrong. Next time you look for a woman, be sure to check whether she is a bitch goddess or not.”

The goddess was mad when after some very adult business in bed, Sidapa did not call her. She was offended and brought her minions to the underworld. Luckily, Terah always saved his butt.

“Don’t talk nonsense, Terah. You knew me. For the past ten years, I grew weary of my job. I don’t want to look at so many deaths anymore. I want to relax.”

“By relaxing that means meeting a lot of women? Don’t you ever get tired from meaningless intercourse?” she said with disgust.

“Men have their needs, Terah. You are still a child to understand that. You couldn’t fathom it.You know what? You should date. I know someone who is still single.”

She snorted. “Thanks but no thanks. I am self-sufficient and a happy single. I do not want a man in my life.”

If she was alive, truly alive, she was now thirty-three years old. By that age, she had her own job and a family.

“You can handle that on your own.”

“See? You don’t know the feeling of the softness of the women.”

“That’s because I am one and it would be gross if I started to feel what you are feeling. I just hope you don’t have any thoughts like that to me. I will personally hunt you down.”

“That will be gross, Terah.”

They both considered themselves as brothers and sisters and she did not know how it happened given the personality of D, himself. The gods hated him but most of the goddess loved him. He was handsome. Handsomely good.

“You have another mission and this time, it is not for me but for you.”

She looked at him. “I don’t need anything.”

“A lie. Your body. We both knew that the body that you are using right now will expire. You need to find another body. I thought it would be tiresome if I would find you another body so it's time to use your own body instead.”

“What are you saying? My body was already decomposed.” There was even a tomb made for her.

“Well…it wasn’t. I stole your body and just waited for the right time. Now is the right time.”

Her body was still out there? If she had her body with her, she can now go back to her family. “Was that a joke, D? If that was one of your sick jokes, cut it out before I get my hopes high.” She longed to go back to her own body where she was most comfortable.

“No. Do you remember Emanuela? The queen of the Lorentz Clan? Well, we met and told me about you despite the fact that her powers are unstable. She said a dreambender will call you again leaving your body helpless. When Chet called you, I snatched your body and put it in a place where it was safe.” It was impossible for her to believe. Her body…she could still use it? She would do anything just to have it back.

Emanuela Velasco was the mate of the Alpha of the Lorentz Clan. She was transitioning to become an immortal.

“How?” It will be more comfortable if she uses her own. She can go back to her old self.

“Retrieve your essence that you gave to Chet. Kiss him again. That’s the only way.” What?
