“Henry’s confession came from a place of anger,” I began calmly. “Anger for losing you.”

She listened without interrupting.

“He was furious that King Valtor locked you up so easily, so he focused on making the King feel guilty,” I continued. “Guilty for not trusting you. Guilty for believing a staged lie instead of his own Luna.”

“He made it clear that by now… you probably hate both of them.”

She scoffed loudly.

“That fool,” she muttered. “Continue.”

“So even before he finally told the truth,” I said, “King Valtor had already beaten him for refusing to get straight to the point.”
