A Deliberate Distance
“Let’s go out,” I declared suddenly.
She looked at herself briefly and scoffed.
“Obviously, I am not going out with this dress.
“Neither am I,” I concluded firmly.
She smiled faintly.
“Then after that let’s go eat some dinner at Dinner Royal,” I declared.
Inside the mansion, we separated to different rooms to get prepared.
Time passed.
Five minutes.
Ten minutes.
Fifteen minutes.
After twenty full minutes, I was still the one waiting.
“You sure take years before you get dressed,” I declared jokingly when she finally appeared.
“Yeah,” she replied confidently. “I have to look good.”
And then….
Silence.
Not the awkward type.
Not the forced...
