I stared at Professor Zane for a long moment, my mind processing his warning, ‘stay away from Draven Frost.’

But something about the way he said it, like I was a child who needed protecting, like I couldn't make my own decisions, made me irritated so I pulled out my whiteboard and wrote quickly, my handwriting sharper than usual.

"Okay sir, but that should be left to me to decide."

His expression shifted, he opened his mouth, probably to argue, to give me more warnings I hadn't asked for but I was done with this conversation.

I erased the board and wrote again, "See you later, Professor."
