Elena – POV

The morning air was cold, and crisps. It was quiet and empty. I looked at the baby in my arms. The baby that I have tried to terminate once before was cradling against my chest. I've been forced to care for him. Now I was trying to keep him warm with the worn shawl I had stitched together from scraps Jayden and I found during our endless days on the run. I sat near the corner of the makeshift shelter we built deep in the forest, rocking slowly back and forth to soothe the baby while Jayden snored like a wild boar in the background....
