Georgia walked away from the window and dropped down on the couch with a tired sigh. Her energy was gone. Everything from that morning had drained her, the phone call, the police, the shouting, everything.
May walked over and handed her a small bottle of water. “Here. Drink something before your head explodes.”
Georgia took it. “Thanks.”
May sat beside her. “You okay now?”
Georgia took a sip and leaned her head back. “I’m tired, May. I feel like I’ve been fighting everyone since the day I said ‘I do.’ And even now that the marriage is over, they still won’t let me breathe.”
May didn’t say anything at first....
