It had been days since the failed kidnapping, yet the thought of it still made my blood boil.

I had planned everything so carefully and still, somehow, Miriam had slipped through my fingers.

Worse than that, the mercenaries I hired were all found dead. Every one of them.

Slaughtered and dumped by the road side. It was just unbelievable and somewhat scary.

What could have killed them? Or to be precise who could have killed them?

I sat by the window of my study, the dim light from the lamp casting a soft shadow of my body across the floor.
