Eventually Daniel breaks the kiss as he takes a deep breath, gazing lovingly into Alex’s tearful eyes. He wipes the tears from her cheeks tenderly before placing another soft kiss upon her forehead. He kisses her slowly and deeply, savouring every second of this precious time together.

When he finally pulls away from her she lets out a shaky sigh and clutches at his shirt desperately. “Thank you,” she mutters gratefully.

“For what?” he asks, puzzled.

“Everything,” she replies softly with a small smile.
