"True. But we can feel each other." She paused, staring directly into Alex's eyes. "I think you might have known about me," she whispered. "From the moment that you came here, you knew. And I think you're the reason that I survived."

She shook her head, leaning in towards the girl. "There's no way that I could've done something that powerful. No human can do that. If you had been hurt, I don't think I would've been able to do what you did."

"Yes, you probably wouldn't have been able to," she agreed.
