They drive in complete silence. Alex keeps glancing over at Eric every few seconds, noticing how tense he is. The whole time she has been driving, he hadn't uttered a single word to her. He had barely acknowledged her presence.

When they arrive at the grocery store, he stops the car and hops out quickly without waiting for Alex to finish unbuckling her seatbelt. He climbs back into the car, closing the door behind him and pulling out of his parking spot before speeding back out of the store and down the road.
