The next day started quietly at the packhouse after all the chaos from yesterday. Carson hadn't returned home last night after the fight, although he did see us when we were taking Arnold back to the dungeon. I was both annoyed and worried about him.

As I walked around, people whispered and gave me strange looks, as if I had something to do with what happened last night. Maybe I did, I thought. If I hadn't talked to Arnold, maybe Carson wouldn't have been so angry.
