SILVAN'S POV

Humans were very weak creatures. A simple scratch in the arm could lead to an infection that might cause irreparable damage to their bodies. A simple fall could lead to death.

Likewise, they had almost no strength in their bodies. However, they still kept on inventing things that even could potentially harm their already fragile lives.

I used not to care about it. Until that night when, in front of my eyes, Emma's life was threatened by human technology.

'No, it's not just the technology,' I thought to myself after taking a look at the people inside of the approaching car. There were five people inside with sinister laughs on their faces. And in their eyes, malice was evidence.

'A malice of a killer,' I narrowed my eyes. 'And they are looking directly at Emma.'

"These human ants... want to kill Emma?" I softly muttered as I lifted a finger and pointed at the car. Immediately, a terrifying power started to appear on the tip of my finger.

"My lord, please halt!" Laksom, who just arrived beside me, suddenly stated. However, my ears were half closed as my eyes focused on the ants' car.

"My lord, the whole city will be ruined if you use your power. Every human, including Miss Emma, will be in danger," Laksom hurriedly added.

"Ah," I let out a small breath before I retracted my hand. Even though at that time, I wanted to send the world into ruin, I would never want to place Emma in any dangerous situation.

At that moment, I blinked my eye as I realized what just transpired.

I was the werewolf king, the one who allowed the peaceful co-existence of the werewolves and the humans. For long, long years, I used my power and authority to maintain that peace. Yet, when I saw the humans trying to harm Emma, I didn't even hesitate to send the human world into ruin.

'Indeed, from the moment I met you, I repeatedly failed to act reasonable,' I thought as I stared at Emma. At that time, she already noticed the fast approaching car. Her beautiful face immediately turned pale as she noticed that the car would hit her.

The expression on her face was always calm and impassive. Despite showing a lot of emotions on her face that night we spent together, the expression on her face generally maintained the facade of calmness that she wanted to show me. She was very graceful. And that night, although she looked straight at me, the most dangerous being in the lower realm, her eyes did not contain any trace of fear.

Yet, at that time, as the car approached her, her beautiful ocean eyes clearly held fear.

My heart throbbed upon seeing it.

"Please allow me to save Miss Emma and her companion, my lord," Laksom suddenly said, immediately halting my plan on coming over to save her.

For a split second, I closed my eyes to calm myself before ordering Laksom, "Make sure not to kill the humans inside."

Laksom showed a surprised expression upon hearing me. However, he showed the look of understanding when I told him, "Make it that they will live in suffering... all the days of their lives."

"Yes, my lord," Laksom stated.

I looked back at Emma who was surprisingly looking at the female walking beside her. Then, without hesitation, she hurriedly raised her hands to push the girl away from danger. Because of that, she missed the opportunity to save herself. However, instead of panicking, she gracefully stood there and calmly closed her eyes as if she was welcoming death without any fear.

My mind turned blank upon seeing her action. 'Was the fear that I saw in her eyes... not the fear for her own death but rather the fear for the life of her friend?' I thought as I looked at the woman with slightly widened eyes.

At that moment, she looked very charming... and very beautiful. She was but a very fragile woman. Yet she was more courageous than most of the strong werewolves I knew. My heart started beating faster. I wanted to come over to her and hold her safely in arms. So that no one could harm even a single strand of her hair.

At that second, Laksom moved and stood in front of Emma before punching the car. The trajectory of the car immediately changed and within another second, it hit the big tree on the side. The humans inside panicked and screamed before their bodies were damaged by the strong collision.

However, I was not content at the result. Laksom knew it. Hence, he used his force to push the car further to the tree. As a result, the bodies of the humans inside futher broke while leaving their lives intact.

Everything happened without two seconds. Right after hitting the car, Laksom returned behind me. I stayed hidden in the tree as I watched Emma remain gracefully standing on the road with her beautiful eyes closed.
