I leaned back against the wall, stretching my legs out into the room while pulling a small block of pine and my pocketknife from my leather pouch.

Who would have thought a Beta would eventually become a babysitter? Not like I was complaining, though. I loved everything about this. Being here meant Lady Clarabel would be free to finish what she started with Malakai.

As much as I never imagined they would become lovers, it was beautiful to see Malakai letting a woman close to him. At one point in my life, I assumed he was into men. Thank the goddess I was wrong.
