MALAKAI’S POV
Kaedryn’s grip on my collar loosened, his small eyelids fluttering shut. But instead of asking for his mother, his head simply drifted lower, his weight settling completely against my chest as he fell into a deep sleep.
“Malakai. Wait for me,” the sound of Kael’s voice broke the silence from a few paces behind. I didn’t stop and so he quickened his steps until he was walking right at my shoulder, his sharp eyes darting from the sleeping boy on my chest to me.
Far behind us was Clarabel, still very much furious.
Kael let out a low whistle, his tone dripping with that sickening and irritating amusement....
