"What did you just do?" Sabrina asked, her tone carrying a distinct chill that I recognized. She sounded like my father, when he was very pissed.

I shoved down my inhibitions and maintained a glower. "I asked you a question first."

Sabrina turned to Nora who was looking at us with a bewildered expression. "Could you excuse us, please?" Sabrina said in a tone that dripped sweet saccharine.

Nora looked at me. I gave her an encouraging nod, signaling that it was okay for her to leave. She turned and walked out, the door closing behind her. I faced Sabrina again.
